We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Hand to join our team. The Kitchen Hand will assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, washing dishes, and supporting the kitchen staff in food preparation tasks. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and committed to upholding hygiene and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Dishwashing: Wash dishes and utensils using industrial dishwashers or by hand as required. Ensure all items are cleaned and sanitised properly.
Kitchen Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, including countertops, sinks, equipment, bins and floors. Follow cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure a sanitary environment.
Food Preparation Support: Assist kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients as directed and making food.
Stock Management: Assist with the receiving, storage, and rotation of food supplies and ingredients. Monitor stock levels and notify the supervisor when supplies are running low.
Waste Management: Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables in accordance with waste management guidelines. Keep waste disposal areas clean and organized.
Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, toasters and slicers. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly.
Compliance: always Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations. Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines to ensure food safety and sanitation.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to coordinate tasks and meet deadlines.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen environment preferred but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
