This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished governance professional to lead and enhance the University's risk, compliance and insurance functions. You are a strategic and collaborative leader with extensive experience in risk management, compliance and insurance governance within a large and complex organisation. What you'll do
As the Senior Manager (Risk, Compliance and Insurance), you will provide strategic leadership across the University's risk, compliance and insurance functions, helping to ensure informed decision-making, regulatory compliance and organisational resilience.
Working closely with senior leaders across the institution, you will lead the ongoing development and enhancement of the University's Risk Management and Compliance Frameworks, oversee enterprise risk management processes, and provide expert advice on emerging risks, governance obligations and insurance matters. You will play a key role in strengthening organisational capability through risk workshops, training initiatives and practical guidance that supports effective risk and compliance management.
In this role, you will:

Lead enterprise risk management activities, including risk assessments, monitoring, reporting and organisational resilience initiatives.

Oversee the University's compliance framework, ensuring legislative, regulatory and policy obligations are identified, monitored and effectively managed.

Manage the University's insurance portfolio, including renewals, broker engagement, policy administration and claims oversight.

Coordinate organisational responses to audit, assurance and regulatory review activities while monitoring the implementation of agreed actions.

Prepare high-quality reports and briefings for senior management, the Audit and Risk Committee and other governance bodies.

Lead and develop staff while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability.

Partner with stakeholders across the University to strengthen governance maturity and support effective organisational oversight.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.

Extensive senior-level experience leading risk management, compliance and insurance governance functions within a large, complex or commercially focused organisation.

Expertise in contemporary risk management, compliance and insurance frameworks, methodologies and practices.

Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide risk and compliance frameworks, policies and programs.

Strong knowledge of governance, legislative and regulatory frameworks relevant to complex operating environments.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and prepare high-quality reports and briefings.

Proven ability to build productive stakeholder relationships, influence outcomes and drive organisational change.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience evaluating complex issues and developing practical, evidence-based recommendations.

Resilience, adaptability and the ability to respond effectively to emerging challenges and changing organisational needs.

Professional certifications and membership of relevant professional bodies such as RMIA or IIA Australia would be highly regarded.
