About the role
As an Information Security Designer, you will be a trusted cyber security advisor, partnering with business and technology teams to design secure, resilient, and compliant solutions across V/Line's technology environment. Leveraging your expertise across cloud, infrastructure, applications, identity, and data security, you will help protect critical services, influence major technology initiatives, and strengthen the security and resilience of a transport network relied upon by millions of Victorians.

You'll partner with technology architects, rail engineers, project teams, and business stakeholders to embed security into some of V/Line's most significant technology and operational programs. From cloud platforms and digital services through to operational technology and critical infrastructure environments, your work will have a tangible impact on the security and resilience of essential public services.
About you
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following key selection criteria within their application, as this forms part of our merit-based recruitment process:
Established experience in cyber security, including experience in security designing or similar role
Hands-on advisory experience working with control frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO27001), technologies including Intrusion Detection, Anti-virus/anti-malware, Database Activity Monitoring, Data Loss Prevention, Penetration Testing, Firewalls & Security Log management tools
Proven experience in data security controls and techniques such as data loss prevention, identity access management, threat intelligence and log management
Established experience in information security concepts such as risk management security architecture threat management security governance and design
Understanding of security standards, project IT governance and framework such as ITIL, CSA, OWASP, Australian Privacy Principles NIST CSF & SPs, ISO 27001
Demonstrated cloud security design experience across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
Proven experience working in autonomous environments and proactively engaging with various stakeholders, both internally and externally to V/Line.
Tertiary qualifications in computer science, cyber security or other related fields
Salary for this position is commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned skills and experience to the position.
