Laurent Bakery currently has employment opportunities available for qualified and experienced Pastry Chef to join our team.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Pastry Chef to join our production team in a hands-on leadership role. This position is ideal for a commercially minded pastry professional who enjoys both creating high-quality products and leading a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the daily production of cakes, pastries and dessert products while supervising a team of pastry chefs and production staff. You will play a key role in maintaining product quality, driving production efficiency and ensuring production targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and produce pastries, cakes and other products according to production requirements
Lead by example as a hands-on member of the pastry production team
Supervise and support a team of pastry chefs, cooks and production staff
Allocate tasks and monitor workflow to ensure production schedules are met
Ensure all products are produced to recipe specifications and quality standards
Monitor product quality throughout all stages of production
Train, mentor and develop team members
Assist with production planning and labour allocation
Maintain HACCP, food safety and workplace health and safety standards
Minimise waste and support efficient use of ingredients and resources
About You
Certificate III in Patisserie or equivalent qualification
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Pastry Chef in a commercial production environment
Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring a team
Strong pastry production skills with the ability to work hands-on in a high-volume environment
Commercial awareness and understanding of production efficiency, labour utilisation and waste control
Experience working to production targets and deadlines
Sound knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems
Strong communication and organisational skills
Experience in French patisserie will be highly regarded
