About the Role
This role offers an opportunity for a commercial, tech-native employment lawyer to step beyond a traditional law firm model and help shape how employment law advice is delivered in a modern, technology-enabled environment. The focus is advisory employment law work, particularly Award interpretation and Fair Work compliance, delivered via structured, subscription-based and prepaid legal service models.
Key Responsibilities
Employment & Workplace Advisory
- Advise employers on Modern Award coverage, classifications and pay structures
- Interpret the interaction between Awards, enterprise agreements and the NES
- Provide advice on Fair Work Act compliance and minimum employment standards
- Assist with employment contracts, workplace policies and HR frameworks
- Advise on performance management, disciplinary processes, termination and redundancy
Subscription & Scalable Legal Services
- Deliver employment law advice under prepaid and subscription-based models
- Operate within defined scopes of service and escalation frameworks
- Contribute to repeatable advisory workflows and legal guidance materials
- Balance efficiency with professional judgment and legal independence
Technology & AI-Enabled Practice
- Use AI and legal technology tools to support drafting and award interpretation
- Assist in developing reusable legal content, decision trees and internal playbooks
- Collaborate with product and operations teams to embed legal expertise into scalable systems
Professional & Regulatory Compliance
- Deliver services in accordance with professional and ethical obligations
- Maintain accurate documentation and advice records
- Operate within governance, supervision and complaints-handling frameworks
About You
Essential
- Admitted solicitor in NSW (or eligible for admission)
- Minimum 3 years’ post-admission experience in employment or workplace relations law
- Strong working knowledge of Modern Awards and the Fair Work Act
- Confident providing advisory (non-litigious) employment law advice
Highly Desirable
- Experience advising SMEs or high-volume client bases
- Exposure to fixed-fee, prepaid or subscription legal service models
- Interest or experience in AI, automation or legal technology
- Experience working alongside HR or workforce solutions teams
