We’re looking for a dedicated Forensic Psychologist to join our team at Veretis Legal Psychology!
Veretis is a leading psychology practice specialising in clinical and corporate counselling, performance psychology, and medico-legal consultancy. Based in Sydney CBD, we work with individuals, organisations, healthcare providers, and legal professionals to deliver high-quality psychological services. As demand for our forensic and medico-legal services continues to grow, we are expanding our Legal Department. We are seeking an experienced psychologist with a strong interest in forensic work to join our team.
Working within our legal sector, you will conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for court and legal purposes, review relevant documentation, and prepare clear, evidence‑based reports that are suitable for use in legal proceedings. You will collaborate closely with clinicians and legal professionals to ensure your opinions are well‑reasoned, defensible, and assist the court in making informed decisions. This role suits psychologists and mental health professionals who are confident in forensic assessment, comfortable with medico‑legal reporting, and motivated to make a meaningful impact within the justice system.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive virtual psychological assessments, integrating psychometric tools, clinical interviews, and collateral information to form well‑substantiated opinions.
- Review court documents, criminal histories, and relevant records in detail to ensure assessments and opinions are fully informed by the legal context.
- Prepare thorough, evidence‑based psychological and medico‑legal reports that clearly outline methodology, reasoning, and opinions, with a strong emphasis on clarity and defensibility in court.
- Assess risk factors (including risk of reoffending, violence, and harm to self or others) and provide balanced, well‑reasoned professional opinions to assist legal decision‑makers.
- Collaborate closely with administration, clinicians, and legal professionals to ensure timely, accurate, and transparent communication, and to support the court in making well‑informed decisions.
- Maintain high standards of professional, ethical, and culturally responsive practice, with careful documentation to support accountability and defensible opinion‑giving in legal settings.

About you:
- AHPRA Registration
- Postgraduate qualifications in forensic psychology, forensic mental health, or related fields
- Experience in forensic, clinical, or legal assessments
- Strong report-writing and risk‑assessment skills
- Digital literacy and familiarity with practice management software
- Excellent professional judgment and communication
- Hold a current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Hold a current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Sydney-based
