What you'll be doing
This is dependent on which rotation you are in, however the first rotation (up to May 202 will be in inpatient and outpatient neuro. You will have a combination of inpatients and outpatients on most days providing assessment and therapeutic intervention to patients with a broad range of neurological presentations. You'll have opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in a well-resourced department with access to Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies, FEES, sEMG (BisskApp and Vital Stim), EMST, IOPI etc. Over time, you'll be able to commence competencies for instrumental assessment and take students.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

Bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership to Speech Pathology Australia. Drivers licence.

Demonstrated knowledge and clinical skill in the assessment and management of patients presenting with swallowing difficulties, including experience in swallow rehabilitation and instrumental assessment.

Demonstrated knowledge and clinical skill in the assessment and management of patients presenting with a broad range of communication difficulties, including individual, group, LSVT/Speak Out.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally, build positive workplace relationships, and collaborate effectively as a reliable team member to achieve shared goals.
