About the Role
As a Fisheries Management Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the sustainable management of NSW’s valuable aquatic resources. Working within the Aquaculture and Industry Development branch, you will provide vital administrative and project support that helps deliver programs, initiatives and services that benefit the NSW aquaculture industry, communities and ecosystems across the state. Your work will contribute to the effective management of fisheries and aquaculture, helping to balance economic growth with the protection of our unique marine and freshwater environments.
In this varied role, no two days are the same. You will coordinate meetings and travel, maintain records and databases, prepare correspondence, briefs and reports to support the smooth delivery of projects and business operations. As a key member of the Aquaculture Administration team, you will help ensure information flows efficiently, stakeholders receive a quality customer service and Fisheries continues to deliver positive outcomes for the people and environment of NSW.
The role is responsible for providing a high-quality customer service to the NSW aquaculture industry, including responding to telephone enquiries and progressing applications lodged under part 6 of the Fisheries Management Act 1994. You will be working in a collaborative team environment to complete numerous team projects. You will also be providing administrative support to the Director. Your duties will include the preparation of briefs, correspondence and reports, organising and minuting committee meetings. About You
We are seeking a proactive and organised administrative professional who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality support. You are adaptable, customer focused and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. With strong communication skills and a commitment to public service, you build positive working relationships and contribute to a culture of professionalism, integrity and continuous improvement.
To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrated experience in administration and customer service. You are highly organised, professional and have high level communication skills, both written and verbal. You have the capacity to work in a busy team environment, juggling competing priorities. You have experience in understanding and applying legislation. You must be familiar with Microsoft Office and have experience using online databases, finance and records management systems. You understand the importance of accurate records management and be highly adaptable to new technologies.
As our ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Experience providing customer service to stakeholders, administrative and business support services in a busy environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate documents
- Sound attention to detail and experience maintaining records, databases and administrative systems
- A customer focused approach with the ability to respond to enquiries professionally and effectively
- Confidence using a range of business systems and technology to support day-to-day operations
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
- Experience in understanding and applying legislation
Essential Requirements
- Current NSW Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
