About Care Fast
Care Fast is seeking experienced, calm and highly capable female Disability Support Workers to join an established Supported Independent Living (SIL) team supporting two female participants with complex support needs.
We are looking for workers who want to become part of a small, consistent and stable support team, rather than simply picking up occasional shifts.
Female support workers are strongly preferred due to participant choice, dignity and personal-care requirements. Recruitment will be undertaken in accordance with applicable employment and equal opportunity requirements.
About the Participants
The successful workers will support two participants with different but complex needs.
Participant 1 – Complex Intellectual Disability & Physical Support
Support requirements include:
- Intellectual disability associated with brain injury
- High falls risk
- Mobility support and use of a walker
- Assisted transfers
- Personal care and continence support
- Supervised meals due to choking risk
- Medication support
- Frequent prompting and step-by-step assistance
- Structured daily routines
- Positive Behaviour Support strategies
- Restrictive-practice documentation and reporting requirements
- Community access and appointments
Workers supporting this participant must be patient, observant, calm and confident with physical and complex SIL support.
Participant 2 – Frontotemporal Dementia & Chronic Pain
Support requirements include:
- Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD)
- Cognitive decline and memory impairment
Workers must be able to respond calmly without confrontation, recognise changes in presentation and balance active support with the participant's preference for privacy and independence.
Who We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in support workers who have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in complex SIL, high-intensity disability support or a similar environment
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or equivalent
- Certificate IV or additional relevant experience highly regarded
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disability, acquired/brain injury, dementia, chronic pain and/or mental health needs
- Strong experience with personal care
- Safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Falls prevention experience
- Mealtime management and choking/swallowing awareness
- Continence support
- Medication administration experience
- Positive Behaviour Support experience
- Understanding of restrictive-practice documentation and reporting
- Ability to recognise changes in behaviour, health, pain or emotional presentation
- Strong written progress notes and handovers
- Clear spoken and written English
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to cook and assist with meal planning
- Confidence supporting appointments and community participation
- Current driver's licence and ability to drive as required
- Availability for consistent shifts, including weekends
- Required Competencies / Certifications

- CPR
- Medication Administration competency/certificate
- Manual Handling

- Infection Control training
