About us:
Our Maternity Services provide a full continuum of care across antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and newborn services. Midwives may work in Antenatal clinics (inpatient and outpatient), Birth Suite, Postnatal wards, Community and home visiting services, and Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) models.
We are committed to woman-centred, family-focused care. Our services include both standard and continuity of care models, supporting women to build trusting therapeutic relationships with their midwives throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service employ over 300 midwives across 4 birthing facilities and 1 non-birthing facility.
Care is offered in both continuity and non-continuity models of care. These units care for women living within the CHHHS area also providing basic birthing care for women travelling from the Cape and Torres regions.
