The Role
A new opportunity has arisen for a Legal Assistant to work in Mills Oakley’s Commercial Disputes and Insolvency practice in Perth. Supporting two highly recognised Partners and a team of lawyers, your main responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Diary management and work prioritisation;
- Preparing and formatting litigation documents and correspondence, including attending to amendments;
- Electronic filing of all Court documents in all Courts;
- Compiling and maintaining Court document files;
- Compilation of briefs to Counsel and experts;
- Undertaking Excel/hyperlinking work;
- Undertaking document management work;
- Managing a litigation diary: hearings, deadlines;
- Conducting conflict checks;
- File opening and closing, system and matter management;
- Assisting with monthly billing and client reports;
- Document management on legal practice management software; and
- General administrative support to solicitors.
The expectation would be that the ideal candidate can undertake the above work promptly and exercise initiative in undertaking that work.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 3 years’ experience as a legal assistant in a litigation practice
- Excellent communication skills with a strong client service focus
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and have a proven history of meeting deadlines
- Good attention to detail
- Intermediate to advanced skills using the Microsoft Office suite
