We are looking for a reliable, motivated and personable Medical Secretary to join a busy specialist orthopaedic surgical practice in Sydney.
The role can be structured flexibly, from 3 to 5 days per week, depending on the right candidate and their level of experience. The position would involve working directly with the surgeon, while also being supported by a broader group practice team of experienced medical secretaries.
The role will involve working across practice locations, and the successful candidate should be willing to travel between sites in the Eastern Suburbs and Inner West.
The ideal candidate would have previous experience in a specialist or surgical practice, including familiarity with patient bookings, theatre coordination, Medicare and private health billing, WorkCover/CTP processes, imaging coordination, correspondence and patient communication. Experience with medical software such as Genie, Gentu or similar would be highly regarded.
However, for the right person, training can be provided. We are more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, work ethic and communication skills than simply ticking every technical box.
Key attributes we are looking for include:
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Warm, professional and clear communication
- Ability to work well within a team
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- Calm and tactful manner with patients
- Willingness to learn specialist surgical practice workflows
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical setting
- Willingness to travel between practice locations in the Eastern Suburbs and Inner West
- Mandarin-speaking ability would be highly desirable, but not essential
The role would suit someone who takes pride in doing their job well, enjoys patient interaction, and wants to become an important part of a growing specialist practice.
Remuneration will be based on experience, with scope to pay appropriately for a candidate who already has strong specialist rooms, surgical booking, billing or WorkCover experience.
What we offer:
- A stable, long-term role within an established specialist surgical practice
- A supportive team with experienced secretarial colleagues
- A shared workload, with training and backup available
- Direct training in specialist surgical-practice workflows
- Flexibility to structure the position between three and five days per week
- Potential for increased responsibility and career development over time
- A professional, friendly and collaborative working environment
- Remuneration reflecting the successful candidate’s experience and capabilities
- Limited work-from-home flexibility may be considered after training and once competency in the role has been established
