About us
The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy, and processes, and partnering with the department to build capability.
Procurement Services monitors and reports on procurement performance and manages several high-profile strategic projects to minimise procurement risk and support the delivery of value-for-money.
The role is part of the Strategic Sourcing team, responsible for delivering non-ICT goods and services to all departmental business, while working closely with the other teams in the branch to support delivery of the department's strategic objectives through provision of procurement services.
What you will do
As Sourcing Manager, you will lead procurement work across the department. You will help teams secure good value while managing financial and commercial risks.
You will:
- lead complex sourcing activities from planning through to contract delivery.
- give expert advice on procurement, contracts, risks and commercial options.
- use spend data to find new ways to improve value for money.
- lead and support the team to meet clear goals, deadlines and service needs.
- prepare clear reports, briefs and advice on complex procurement matters.
About you
You need knowledge and experience in public sector procurement. You also need experience managing a team.
A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable, especially in procurement, commerce, law or business administration.
You should also have:
- strong procurement expertise, including end-to-end sourcing and contract work.
- proven leadership skills that help teams work well and deliver on time.
- strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear business documents.
- sound commercial judgement, with the ability to assess risks and improve value for money.
