About the Opportunity
As part of the Austal Ships team, the Document Controller will provide essential administrative, document control, and coordination support to the Program Delivery Landing Craft Heavy (LCH) team.
Based in Fremantle initially then transferring to the operational offices in Henderson in FY27, the Document Controller is responsible for managing Program documentation and records to ensure accuracy, version control, and audit readiness, allowing LCH leadership and technical teams to focus on safe, efficient, and timely vessel delivery.

What’s Involved
- Oversee the creation, review, approval and distribution of project documents.

Upload and publish approved documents to the DBMS.

Input and maintain accurate and consistent metadata.
-
Maintain project library contents in accordance with business policies.
-
Maintain version control to prevent inconsistencies and unauthorised modifications.
-
Prepare for, track and manage document revisions, approvals and historical records.

Perform Document Control quality checks.

Delivery Schedule Compliance
-
Communicate with document owners and workflow actors.
-
Follow-up on workflow task completions and work with document owners to ensure on time submittals.

Update and maintain project correspondence register(s).

Send and receive official correspondence and submittals to and from the client on behalf of LCH Program Delivery team members.
You will Need
Essential
-
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in document control or records management.

Knowledge of electronic document management systems and metadata accuracy.

Demonstrated experience with:
- Version control
-
Review and approval workflows.
-
Document registers and audit trails.
-
Electronic document and records management systems (EDRMS/EDMS)
-
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Word.
-
Strong command of the English language, with proficiency in applying grammar and punctuation conventions.

High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.

Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Desirable

A recognised qualification in document control or information management.

Experience working in a highly regulated industry with strict documentation requirements.

Experience or exposure to Defence projects.
