Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end cloud architectures using AWS services aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Lead architecture and technical solution design for energy and utility business capabilities, including asset management, smart metering, grid operations, customer platforms, and renewable energy solutions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient AWS architectures.
- Define integration patterns between enterprise platforms, operational technology (OT), SCADA systems, IoT devices, and cloud services.
- Develop architecture artefacts including solution designs, architecture diagrams, security models, and deployment strategies.
- Guide development teams on cloud-native best practices, microservices, serverless, and API-led integrations.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and operational requirements relevant to the energy sector.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and project teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
- Drive cloud governance, cost optimization, performance monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Support technical leadership during project planning, estimation, and delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of IT experience with at least 5 years in solution architecture roles.
- Strong experience designing and implementing solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Proven experience within the Energy & Utilities industry.
- Expertise in cloud-native architecture patterns including:
- Serverless architectures
- Microservices
- Event-driven systems
- API-led integrations
- Strong knowledge of AWS services such as:
- AWS Lambda
- API Gateway
- EventBridge
- SQS/SNS
- DynamoDB
- RDS
- ECS/EKS
- IAM
- CloudWatch
- VPC
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Terraform.
- Understanding of enterprise integration patterns and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Energy & Utilities Domain Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Smart Metering and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
- Electricity Distribution and Grid Operations
- Outage Management Systems (OMS)
- SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) integrations
- Energy market and regulatory compliance initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
- TOGAF certification or equivalent architecture framework experience
- Experience with IoT platforms and real-time data processing
- Exposure to data and analytics services on AWS
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks applicable to critical infrastructure environments
Pay: From $140,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Melbourne VIC
