About the Role
The Senior Investigator & Projects Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating icare’s handling and investigation of public interest disclosures (PIDs) and misconduct reports, and undertaking related projects that promote awareness of PIDs, ensure compliance with the PID Act and deliver sector leading best practice. The position manages icare’s disclosure reporting and records management system and is responsible for notifying the NSW Ombudsman of relevant PID matters and reporting on icare activities to meet its obligations under the PID Act

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Senior Investigator & Projects Specialist you will:
- Support the Public Interest Disclosures PID assessment panel in the receipt and assessment of reports of alleged serious wrongdoing to determine whether they constitute a PID and decide appropriate risk management and resolution strategies.
- Under the management of the Senior Manager Employee Relations, determine scope of investigations, frame allegations, devise and conduct risk assessments to mitigate the potential for detrimental action, support the wellbeing of involved employees, maintain confidentiality and mitigate risks to icare people, resources, and reputation.
- Engage external investigators and manage the process of investigation and PID handling obligations, including the provision of regular status reports.
- Conduct investigations in accordance with icare’s Code of Conduct and Ethics, Reporting Wrongdoing Policy and Managing Misconduct Procedure.
- Enhance and maintain a framework for icare to meet its obligations for the management of PIDs.
- Foster a culture of speaking up and reporting potential wrongdoing by taking a lead on developing and maintaining PID Act compliance training for all icare employees including recipients and reporters.
- Manage icare’s Speak Up platform including liaising with the platform provider to ensure emerging matters are promptly addressed
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary level qualification (e.g. bachelor degree) in business, law, human resources or other relevant discipline or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through extensive practical experience
- Deep understanding of the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022
- Understanding of the role of the NSW Ombudsman
- Highly developed written and oral communication and negotiation skills
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Facilitating a culture of continuous learning, encouraging innovation and product development
- Previous experience in fraud, anti-bribery and corruption or investigative roles.
- Significant experience in conduct and integrity in the NSW government sector.
