Senior Strategic Sourcing Officer

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a Senior Strategic Sourcing Officer to join our Corporate Services team. This pivotal role will oversee complex tendering and contract management processes, ensuring alignment with Council’s strategic objectives and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end sourcing and contracting for high-risk and capital projects.
- Manage strategic tender processes and negotiate high-value contracts.
- Provide expert advice on contract law, risk mitigation, and procurement strategy.
- Mentor internal teams and liaise with legal counsel on contractual matters.
- Ensure accurate contract records and compliance with Council policies.
About You:
You bring strong experience in contract management, law, and strategic procurement. You’re confident in tender evaluations, negotiations, and using systems like SAP, TechOne, or CiAnywhere. Your interpersonal and problem-solving skills make you a trusted advisor across teams.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Supply, Business, Finance, or Law.
- Training in Contract Law and Contract Administration.
- Proven experience in contract management, tendering, and procurement.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience.
- Willingness to undertake a Criminal History Check.
Desirable:
- Experience in Local Government or Construction Industry procurement.
- Leadership in teams or projects.
- Advanced negotiation and consultation skills.
