The Role
Harrisdale SHS is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Education Assistant – English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EA-EAL/D) to join their team of dedicated staff to support the French program.
We are ideally seeking an enthusiastic and reliable EA-EAL/D to support the French language program. The successful applicant will ideally have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. A collaborative approach, a willingness to share knowledge, and a readiness to support a team-oriented learning environment are important. EA’s with in-country and ATAR experience are encouraged to apply.
The role requires individuals who ideally show initiative in adapting tasks to support diverse student learning needs, who reflect on their practice, and who are open to feedback to support their professional growth. You will work closely with the French teachers, providing practical support and contributing to student progress through classroom collaboration.
Key responsibilities include supporting the teacher in delivering planned learning programs, including the use of computers and other technologies; assisting with individual or small group activities under teacher direction; preparing, maintaining, and safely storing classroom resources and equipment; supervising students during out-of-class activities and excursions; and helping to ensure the general care and wellbeing of students.
Applicants who are passionate about student engagement, committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment, and either experienced in a mainstream school setting or willing to learn and take direction are encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff across the whole school to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. They should be organised and able to use initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of students and maintenance of the learning environment.
