About the Role
Reporting to Site Supervisors and Project Managers, you will work on a major civil utilities project operating excavators and associated plant to support the installation of underground services and infrastructure. The role is predominantly day shift, with occasional night and weekend work required to support project delivery and operational requirements.
Working alongside experienced crews, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient delivery of trench excavation, service installation support, backfilling and reinstatement activities. A strong focus of this role will be working within trenching operations and around existing underground services while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and productivity.
What You'll Do
- Operate excavators and associated plant safely and efficiently on major civil utilities works
- Perform trench excavation, backfilling, and installation support activities for underground services and infrastructure, including deep trenching works where required
- Work around existing underground services and within complex construction environments
- Support the installation of water, sewer, stormwater, and civil infrastructure as required
- Complete pre-starts, daily maintenance inspections, and equipment upkeep
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and site crews to deliver project milestones safely and efficiently
- Support trench support, shoring, and reinstatement activities in accordance with project requirements
- Maintain strong safety, environmental, and quality standards across all site activities
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience operating excavators within the civil construction, utilities or infrastructure sectors
- Demonstrated experience operating excavators across a range of sizes on civil construction, utilities or infrastructure projects
- Experience undertaking trenching, excavation, backfilling and service installation support activities within civil utilities environments
- Relevant VOCs, licences and competencies for civil plant and equipment
- Current White Card and Driver's Licence
- Strong understanding of safe excavation practices and working around underground services
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and follow direction from supervisors and project personnel
- Ability to obtain required project and site clearances
