The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity Join Ngaanyatjarra Council as a FIFO-Community Development Advisor working directly with community members to support them with accessing banking, Centrelink and a range of of other services on a regular basis as well as provide general advice and support.
In this rewarding and varied role, you will:
- Provide assistance, advice and coordinate support in all matters pertaining to the cultural, economic and social development of the community and its members
- Act as community administration contact point and provide community and its Council with regular advice and reports on all project activities and funding situations
- Providing leadership to community employees to include ensuring teamwork, effective meetings, and the adequate flow of information between employees and the community
- Oversee and liaise with community staff employed by the community & supervise daily work program
- Oversee and assist with the administration of community meetings and elections in line with its Constitution to include calling and arranging Annual General Meetings and General Meetings with adequate notice, preparation and distribution of agenda, keeping of minutes, following up recommended actions and providing constitutional advice.

To be successful in this role, you will be a community-minded professional with a passion for supporting people and improving community wellbeing.
You will have:
- The ability to work respectfully and effectively within remote Aboriginal communities.
- Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience in community services or social services, or a related field.
- Relevant qualifications /related qualifications (Advantageous but not essential).
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record management systems.
- A current C Class Driver's Licence and confidence travelling on remote and unsealed roads.

Welcome to Ngaanyatjarra Lands, a vibrant tapestry of culture and community nestled within the vast beauty of the Australian desert. Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.
