About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and driven Health Promotion Coordinator to join the Population Health team at Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). This is a unique leadership role where you will coordinate and lead the implementation of evidence-based health promotion priorities and programs across our vast and diverse district, including portfolios such as healthy weight, tobacco control, and other priority areas.
As the Health Promotion Coordinator, you will:
- Lead and coordinate the implementation of agreed health promotion priorities and programs, embedding equity approaches throughout
- Supervise and guide District Health Promotion Officers, providing mentorship, feedback and performance development
- Engage District staff and partner agencies in project implementation and evaluation, working across government and non-government sectors
- Maintain and apply knowledge of best-practice and current evidence in health promotion, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and project reports
- Collaborate with senior leaders to align health promotion activities with the MLHD Strategic Plan and agreed program frameworks
- Build and sustain strong relationships with teachers, educators, community members, local government, and other key stakeholders
Travel across the district, including occasional overnight stays, to support program delivery in early childhood, school and community settings

About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion or a related field, with a high level understanding of contemporary health promotion theory and practice
- Sound experience in the planning, implementation and/or evaluation of health promotion projects, with a strong commitment to equity and evidence-based approaches
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff and programs across a large geographical area, working productively with a geographically dispersed team
- The ability to interpret population health data, research findings and current evidence, and translate these into effective practice
- Proven capacity to build strong, productive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including local government and community organisations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated experience preparing reports for internal audiences and peer-reviewed publication
- Computer literacy including word processing, email and effective use of the internet
- NSW Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and Vaccination Category B compliance
Current Class C driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays
