About us:
The Endoscopy Unit at Cairns Hospital is a purpose-built multidisciplinary unit operating three procedure rooms. It provides diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy as well as gastroenterology (GE) outpatient services, Manometry, Pillcam, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Bronchial Ultrasound (EBUS).
The unit provides 24-hour emergency care. Cairns Hospital Endoscopy Unit is the leading unit in Australia for Endoscopist Directed Nurse Administered Propofol Sedation (EDNAPS).
This element sets the department to a high clinical standard, especially when developing nursing leaders within the department. As an Enrolled Nurse certain tasks will be dependent on your knowledge and experience.
About your role:
Patient assessment and education regarding bowel preparation.
Pre-procedure assessment and admission process.
Patient preparation for procedure, e.g. cannulation.
Assisting with endoscopy procedures.
Assisting with sedation.
