What you will be doing in the role:
- Plan, coordinate, compile and monitor the production and publication of crime and justice statistics.
- Undertake high level statistical analysis and provide advice on crime and justice statistics.
- Lead project teams as required and manage activities to ensure outputs satisfy QGSO standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
- Prepare complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, statistical commentary, presentations, documents, speeches and correspondence for senior officers.
- Provide high level technical advice, information and support to clients and senior officers on complex issues including forecast models and requests for crime and justice data.
- Promote statistical standards and review statistical data in consultation with relevant government agencies.
- Lead the implementation and operation of statistical processing systems underpinned by knowledge of criminal justice data and best practice data management principles.
- Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent QGSO at meetings involving diverse government agencies.
What you will bring to be successful in the role:
- excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- experience processing and analysing data - including a high level of competency in Excel and statistical software application 'R'.
- excellent organisational skills and ability to navigate, lead and manage competing work priorities in complex and, at times, fast paced environments.
- the ability to apply effective judgement, communication and understanding of perspectives in developing solutions and working with others.
- forecasting model experience and/or criminal justice knowledge would be highly desirable.
A six-month probation period applies.
