Australian Support Workers Sydney is looking to hire a warm, proactive, and reliable female Casual Disability Support Worker to support an 18‑year‑old young woman living in Arcadia 2159 (Near Dural)
We are currently seeking a reliable and flexible Casual Disability Support Worker who thrives in a dynamic environment and has availability on Monday's, Thursday's and Friday's to support a young person in learning new skills as a young adult.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Is not working Monday, Thursday or Friday's and can offer full flexibility
- Can confidently accept this position and has no issues with driving to Arcadia, and then transporting the client to day program in Wahroonga, and pick up from Wahroonga and taking her back home to Arcadia.
- Can commit to shifts typically ranging from 7am-9am, 3pm-6pm (split shift) 3 days per week.

This role is ideal for someone who brings initiative, patience, and genuine engagement to their work, and who can confidently support a client with mild reactive behaviours, when feeling overwhelmed, and understands skills needed to support a young person with an intellectual disability, and daily living needs.
About the Role
You will be providing one‑on‑one support within the client’s home and local community. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging and building rapport with a young woman who benefits from proactive, warm support
- Ability to assess the situation and if the client declines a request to help the support complete a task, the support worker is able to give the client space, and then use strategies to encourage the client to remain on task and complete what is needed
- Assisting with daily living tasks, including dinner preparation, household routines, and general support
- Encouraging participation in activities and helping maintain a positive, structured environment
- Implementing behaviour support strategies as required
- Helping the client transition to a day program and feel comfortable and supported without pressure
- Helping client manage anxiety
Essential & Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting people with mild behaviours and intellectual disability
- Ability to be engaging, proactive, and responsive to the client’s needs
- Experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans
- Certificate III or higher in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or related field
- All mandatory NDIS worker requirements completed
- Current Police Check
- Background in nursing or psychology (highly regarded)
