This role is central to ensuring ADENCO maintains effective procurement strategies, strong supplier relationships and robust purchasing and contract management processes as the business continues to grow. You will work closely with Project Managers, the Finance Team and Executive Management to oversee procurement activities across the business, negotiate with suppliers, manage key supply arrangements and ensure goods and services are sourced commercially, efficiently and in line with project and operational requirements.
The Procurement Manager will provide strategic oversight of purchasing and supply activities, identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and improved supplier performance, and support the business in maintaining reliable and cost-effective supply arrangements across its operations.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Procurement Manager to lead procurement, purchasing and supplier management activities across a multi-project contracting environment. You will oversee strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, procurement planning and contract management, while ensuring goods and services are sourced efficiently, competitively and in line with project requirements.
This role suits a hands-on procurement leader who thrives in a fast-paced contracting environment, can build strong supplier relationships, improve procurement processes and work effectively with project and operational teams to deliver cost-effective and reliable supply outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor procurement, purchasing, storage and distribution strategies, policies and procedures across the business.
- Prepare and maintain procurement and inventory plans to ensure required materials, equipment and supplies are available while controlling costs and minimising excess stock.
- Negotiate and manage supplier agreements and contracts to achieve appropriate outcomes across quality, cost, delivery, service and commercial terms.
- Monitor and review inventory, storage and stock control systems to ensure supply requirements are met and stock levels are maintained appropriately.
- Oversee systems and processes for recording and tracking the movement of materials, equipment and supplies, including timely re-ordering and replenishment.
- Liaise with project, operational and finance teams to understand procurement requirements and coordinate the timely supply and distribution of goods and services.
- Oversee the accurate recording and administration of purchasing, storage and distribution transactions.
- Manage and coordinate procurement team activities, allocate priorities and monitor performance and service delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers, including monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply or service issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, strengthen supply arrangements and improve operational efficiency.
- Ensure procured goods and services meet project, operational and client requirements and are delivered in accordance with agreed specifications and timeframes.
- Support management with procurement reporting, supplier analysis, forecasting and commercial information to assist with operational and strategic decision-making.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Consumer Science or a related field, or equivalent substantial procurement experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior procurement or purchasing role, ideally within construction, mining, engineering or a project-based environment.
- Strong experience developing and implementing procurement, purchasing, inventory and supply strategies.
- Proven ability to negotiate supplier agreements and commercial terms across price, quality, delivery and service requirements.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, evaluating supplier performance and identifying new products, services and supply sources.
- Strong understanding of stock control, inventory management, purchasing and materials planning processes.
- Experience coordinating procurement requirements across multiple projects, departments and operational teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage procurement costs, identify savings opportunities and maintain required supply levels efficiently.
- Experience overseeing procurement systems, purchasing records and the accurate recording of procurement and supply transactions.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse pricing, supplier proposals and procurement options.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including directing team activities, setting priorities and monitoring performance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, project teams and senior management.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage competing procurement priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
