Position Barista (Casual / Part-time / Full-time)

CANBERRA is a modern African fine-dining restaurant celebrating the rich flavours, culture, and hospitality of Africa. We are looking for a passionate and customer-focused Barista to deliver exceptional coffee and beverage service while creating a warm and welcoming experience for every guest. Key Responsibilities Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso, tea, hot chocolate, and specialty beverages. Maintain consistency in beverage quality and presentation. Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service. Take food and beverage orders when required. Recommend drinks and desserts that complement African dishes. Operate the coffee machine, grinder, POS system, and other café equipment. Monitor stock levels and inform management when supplies are low. Keep the coffee station, dining area, and equipment clean and hygienic. Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards. Assist with opening and closing duties. Support the restaurant team during busy service periods. Essential Requirements Previous experience as a Barista or in hospitality (preferred).
Ability to prepare espresso-based coffee to a high standard. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Reliable, punctual, and well-presented.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Desirable Knowledge of African teas, beverages, or specialty drinks .
Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain one). Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) if serving alcoholic beverages. Skills Coffee preparation and latte art. Customer service excellence.

Pay: $47,152.51 – $85,494.82 per year
