Job Description
Our Petbarn category team are currently seeking a motivated Merchandise Assistant or Buyer’s Assistant to join our Fresh & Frozen Food and Dog & Cat Health Categories. Reporting to the Category Manager this role will suit a driven and motivated buyers assistant looking to be part of a growing brand.
About the role
This is a highly administrative and analytical role, ideal for someone who is organised, detail-focused and eager to grow within specialty retail buying. You’ll work closely with the Category Manager and internal stakeholders to support product, range, reporting and supplier activity.
What you’ll do

Maintain product and range files, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates

Support the preparation of brand presentations, sales reports and category performance analysis

Assist with range review analysis and supplier promotional plans

Provide administrative support to the Category team as required

Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Stores, Supply Chain, Marketing and Space Planning
What you’ll bring
-
At least two years’ experience in product administration support, Merchandise Assistant or Buyer’s Assistant role

Experience in a fast-paced retail support office environment, highly regarded

A genuine passion for specialty retail, products and pets

Strong attention to detail, organisation and analytical capability

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables

Experience preparing reports, analysing data and creating graphs

Strong communication skills and confidence working with suppliers, stores and support office teams

The ability to multitask, manage priorities and work with multiple stakeholders
-
A positive, collaborative attitude and a desire to progress into a future buying role
