The purpose of this role is to provide bioinformatics expertise and support for next generation sequencing analysis, genomics pipelines, cloud computing platforms and scientific software development that support public health, pathogen surveillance and human genomics services across Queensland.
What you'll do
In this role you will develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines, analyse high-throughput sequencing data, manage genomics databases and computing infrastructure, support cloud and high-performance computing environments, create and maintain software tools for genetic analysis, collaborate with scientists and subject matter experts, support microbial and human genomics projects, assist with research and development initiatives, and contribute to the delivery of genomic services that support public health and diagnostic pathology.
About you
We are searching for someone who:
Holds a degree in Computer Science, Science, Bioinformatics or a related discipline
Has experience analysing next generation sequencing data
Is proficient in programming languages such as Python and R
Has experience developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines
Has knowledge of cloud computing and high-performance computing environments
Can communicate complex technical information to scientific and clinical stakeholders
