Surveillance & Response Program - Commercial & Risk Manager
Location: Edinburgh, South Australia
Airbus Australia Pacific is looking for a Commercial & Risk Manager to lead our Surveillance and Response Program (SRP) commercial activities in Edinburgh.
In this role, you'll be the central point of contact for all SRP contracts. You will oversee our contractual governance, drive strong commercial outcomes, and work closely with both our internal teams and defence customers to deliver "Best for Defence" capability.
This is a full-time, hands-on position that requires being on site to collaborate directly with key partners across the Edinburgh precinct.
What you'll be doing
Joining our team in Edinburgh, you will lead the day-to-day commercial activities that keep our critical programs moving forward smoothly. You'll partner closely with key stakeholders to manage contract outcomes, drive financial performance, and champion our commitment to Defence
- Managing SRP contracts end-to-end and supporting our Service Delivery Managers to ensure we meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Handling scope variations and contract change proposals, making sure out-of-scope work is properly captured, priced, and billed.
- Driving financial governance by managing the program budget, keeping on top of P&L, issuing invoices promptly, and protecting healthy cash flow.
- Acting as the main commercial face to our customer - leading negotiations, running performance reviews, and managing open conversations with internal legal and finance teams.
- Keeping on top of risks and opportunities across the program, ensuring contract deliverables and reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Working across the business to support team objectives, champion workplace safety, and maintain complete contract documentation.
What you'll bring to the team
To succeed in this role, you'll combine strong commercial sharp-mindedness with the confidence to navigate complex defence environments. We are looking for an approachable, grounded professional who brings a track record of effective contract governance, proactive problem-solving, and collaborative leadership.
- An active Australian NV1 Defence security clearance.
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing complex commercial contracts and building strong customer relationships.
- Great communication skills, with a straightforward, open approach to solving problems and managing stakeholders.
- Strong commercial acumen and comfortable managing program budgets and cost efficiency.
- A genuine commitment to team safety, high quality standard, and customer service.
- Useful to have: practical experience with Commonwealth procurement frameworks, ASDEFCON contracts, and CASG mechanisms.
