About The Role:
The Senior Business Development & Label Manager will be responsible for identifying and signing artists and labels across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region.
The role will develop and execute a revenue growth strategy and territory roadmap, including the identification of key artist, label and catalogue acquisition targets.
The successful candidate will bring strong local industry relationships, an extensive professional network and a detailed understanding of music consumption trends across the region.
They will work closely with label partners and internal teams to develop strategies that effectively market, grow and monetise content. They will also provide market insights and best-practice guidance to the wider international team.
The candidate must be confident discussing the commercial and strategic needs of artists and labels and have a strong understanding of music analytics, audience trends and revenue-growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Identify, negotiate and sign artist and label agreements that meet agreed KPIs and support the company’s growth across the territory.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of priority artists, labels and catalogue opportunities.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of major digital platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, TikTok and other emerging services.
- Partner with labels, artists and internal project managers to develop strategies that increase revenue from both frontline and catalogue content.
- Guide key stakeholders on commercial, marketing and promotional opportunities within the market.
- Use data, market insights and analytics from a range of sources to identify and present revenue-growth opportunities.
- Work cross-departmentally and internationally to action opportunities originating outside the home market.
- Represent the AUNZ region as part of the international business development team.
- Provide leadership and support within the region while contributing to broader global initiatives.
Qualifications
Music industry expert with 3 to 5 years of experience in A&R, business development, and/or directly contributing to the growth of labels, artist management firms, distributors or other relevant segments of the music ecosystem.
Strong business and financial acumen, including prior experience meeting or exceeding revenue and profitability targets.
Track record of business development success in music, and/or in label or artist acquisition/relations at a distributor, and/or success in other relevant facets of the music industry.
Established relationships across the ecosystem with artists, managers, DSPs and other partners, and will have a track record of getting things done.
Demonstrated prospecting, relationship building, creative deal structuring and negotiation skills.
Degree in music business, business, finance or relevant field of study or equivalent experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
