We are seeking an experienced Optical Dispenser for a casual role within a busy optical practice.
This role suits dispensers who are confident working across the full dispensing process in a hands-on environment, and who can step in and manage their own customer cases with accuracy and professionalism.
You’ll be working as part of a team that collaborates closely with optometrists and support staff, with a strong focus on delivering correct dispensing outcomes and maintaining a smooth patient flow.
The Role
In this casual position, you will be responsible for:
- Interpreting prescriptions and recommending suitable lens options
- Supporting customers through frame selection and fitting
- Taking accurate measurements (including PDs, heights and adjustments)
- Managing both routine and more complex dispensing cases
- Carrying out repairs, adjustments and troubleshooting
- Working closely with optometrists to support clinical outcomes
- Maintaining accurate records and order processing
Shifts may vary depending on clinic needs and would suit someone comfortable stepping into an established workflow and contributing immediately.
About You
You will ideally bring:
- Previous experience as an Optical Dispenser (2–3+ years preferred)
- Strong understanding of lenses, prescriptions and dispensing principles
- Confidence working independently with customers and prescriptions
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all measurements and orders
- Clear, professional communication with customers and clinicians
- Ability to stay organised and adapt quickly in a busy environment
- A practical, solution-focused approach to problem solving
