About the role
We are looking for a Principal Analyst to join IPART’s Regulation & Compliance division and help establish and deliver IPART’s ongoing compliance and enforcement role for embedded networks. This is an opportunity to contribute to a new regulatory framework designed to improve transparency, consumer protections and price outcomes for people supplied through embedded networks in NSW.
Working in the Energy Networks Regulation team, you will help develop and implement a proportionate, risk-based compliance approach for embedded network sellers and consumers. The role will involve analysing regulatory and stakeholder information, supporting guidance and engagement, identifying implementation issues, preparing advice and briefings, and contributing to compliance monitoring and enforcement activity as the framework matures.
Some of your key accountabilities will include:
-
Supporting the development and implementation of IPART’s compliance and enforcement approach for embedded network sellers
-
Analysing legislation, regulatory information, stakeholder feedback, complaints and referrals to identify risks, trends and appropriate regulatory responses
-
Preparing clear guidance, briefings, correspondence and decision papers to support effective implementation of the embedded networks reforms
-
Engaging with embedded network sellers, customer advocates, EWON, DCCEEW, the AER and other regulators to support consistent information and practical compliance outcomes
-
Contributing to monitoring and enforcement activities, including assessing non-compliance and recommending proportionate responses
About you
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a new and evolving regulatory environment. You will be able to make sense of complex legislation, policy intent, stakeholder concerns and operational constraints, and translate that information into practical advice, clear guidance and proportionate regulatory action.
You will bring strong analytical, communication, project management and stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement and a genuine interest in delivering better outcomes for customers. Experience in regulation, compliance, policy implementation, energy markets, consumer protection, utilities, project management and stakeholder engagement would be highly regarded. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, adaptability, a collaborative approach and teamwork are essential to this role.
