South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Coordinator Information Compliance & Business Services to lead a diverse team responsible for strengthening Council’s information management, compliance, Service Desk and business support capabilities.
As Coordinator Information Compliance & Business Services, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for Council’s digital and physical records, information assets, information governance, data integrity and internal customer-facing technology support.
The Business Services component of the role includes leadership of Council’s internal Level 1 Service Desk, ITIL-aligned service management practices, desktop and application support coordination, service reporting, business partnering and continuous improvement.
You will provide strategic guidance and operational leadership to enhance information governance practices, improve data integrity, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policy requirements, and support staff and Councillors to use information and technology effectively, responsibly and securely.
In this role you’ll:
- Lead and support a multi-disciplinary team responsible for Council’s information management, records, data governance, compliance, and business technology support functions.
- Oversee Council’s internal Service Desk function, including desktop support, application support, request fulfilment, incident management, knowledge management and customer service improvement.
- Strengthen ITIL-aligned service management practices, including service standards, reporting, escalation pathways, business partnering and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Council’s digital and physical information assets are secure, compliant, accurate and effectively managed in line with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
- Drive improvements in information governance, data integrity and organisational capability through education, innovation, technology initiatives and continuous improvement practices.
- Provide strategic advice and collaborate across Council to enhance service delivery, manage resources effectively and support the delivery of Council’s priorities.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has demonstrated experience leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team, with the ability to support, develop and inspire employees to deliver high-quality services.
- Has strong knowledge and experience in information management, records management, data governance and compliance frameworks.
- Can ensure Council’s information assets are secure, accurate, accessible, well governed and managed in accordance with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Has experience leading or improving an internal Service Desk, customer support, business support or technology support function.
- Understands ITIL-aligned service management practices, including incident management, request fulfilment, escalation, knowledge management, service reporting and continuous improvement.
- Can build strong relationships with internal customers, understand business needs and partner with service areas to improve technology support, information practices and service outcomes.
- Can drive improvements in data governance maturity through the development and implementation of best practice processes, governance controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Has experience leading data integrity assurance activities, including data cleansing, quality reviews and the evaluation of policies, processes and information standards.
- Can build organisational capability by educating and supporting employees and Councillors to understand their responsibilities relating to information management, technology use and compliance obligations.
- Has the ability to collaborate across an organisation to support innovation, technology strategies, projects and business improvement initiatives.
- Is committed to delivering excellent customer service through regular review, consultation, reporting and continuous improvement of services.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of legislative requirements, organisational policies and the importance of acting in accordance with Council’s values and Code of Conduct.
- Has experience managing budgets, forecasting, procurement processes and resources to achieve effective business outcomes.
