About Rivkin
Rivkin has been advising Australian investors since 1969. We’re a family and staff-owned wealth management firm in Rushcutters Bay, covering stockbroking, SMSF administration, financial planning and private wealth. You’d be building for people you know by name, and you’d see what it changes.
About the role
We are seeking a junior Software Engineer to help design, develop and maintain the internal software systems and integrations that support Rivkin’s day-to-day operations. The role reports to the Head of IT Department and works closely with non-technical stakeholders across the business.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain internal web applications, marketing sites and operational tooling — including hosting, deployment pipelines and ongoing infrastructure maintenance.
- Analyse business and user requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications and reliable, maintainable production systems.
- Integrate Rivkin’s internal solutions with external platforms and APIs, including financial-services providers, Microsoft 365, Notion, ActiveCampaign, Twilio and Cloudflare.
- Maintain, document and analyse existing systems; identify technology limitations and deficiencies; design and implement replacements or remediations.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures so that systems remain supportable as the team grows.
Essential criteria
- Minimum 1 year of professional software development and systems integration experience (post-qualification).
- Demonstrated full-stack engineering capability across JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, Bash and SQL.
- Practical experience integrating third-party APIs and SaaS platforms.
- Proven ability to take ambiguous business requirements from non-technical stakeholders and deliver complete, documented software solutions end-to-end.
- Experience operating production systems on cloud / VPS infrastructure (including Git / GitHub, deployment pipelines, Cloudflare or equivalent).
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
Desirable criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in computer science, software engineering, information systems or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Exposure to financial-services environments (stockbroking, wealth, SMSF or comparable regulated industries).
- Experience producing technical documentation for non-technical audiences.
What we offer
- Permanent, full-time role with a stable, established Australian financial-services firm.
- End-to-end ownership of internal systems.
- $75,000 - $85,000 base salary plus superannuation.

Please submit a current CV and a short covering letter outlining how you meet the essential criteria.
