Primary objective
Responsible for the provision of high level executive advice to the Regional Executive Director and Executive Leadership Team in relation
to emergency management and business continuity arrangements and plans in an all-hazard context, to ensure NT Health is compliant
and meets its legislative and regulatory requirements to keep staff, patients and Territorians safe and is able to maintain essential health
services both the clinical and non-clinical during and post event.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Implement Central Australia NT Health Emergency Management Arrangements in an all-hazard environment to ensure the agency
responds in an effective and proportionate manner.
2. Provide guidance during response and recovery operations, which includes the establishment of an agency’s incident management
arrangements. Provide ongoing situational awareness and a common operating picture to senior executive members, and where
appointed, lead and supervise an Incident Management Team function.
3. Act as Deputy Group Coordinator Emergency Management and support facilitation of emergency management planning, preparation,
training, group plan maintenance and compliance.
4. Liaise and negotiate between both internal and external key stakeholders to maintain NT Health’s relationships in relation to risks,
incidents, disasters, and emergencies.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to
ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
6. Provide high level project management, coordination and executive support for medical and emergency management meetings.
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience and a working knowledge of, contemporary Emergency Management (EM) and Business Continuity (BC)
principles and practices, particularly as they relate to the provision of health services.
2. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing emergency and business continuity management plans, processes, tools and
templates.
3. Ability to analyse, problem solve, exercise critical thinking, and propose innovative and contemporary approaches to emergency
management and business continuity through a rigorous risk management approach to planning and decision making.
4. Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the application of incident management system in emergency response and
recovery operations.
5. Proven skills and capability to represent the agency at jurisdictional and cross jurisdictional meetings and forums’, as a liaison officer,
or in a functional capacity within multi-agency activation.
6. High level interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
7. High level strategic, analytical and investigative skills in addition to experience in researching, analysing, interpreting and coordinating
the collation of information
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications in project management or in an appropriate discipline relevant to emergency management or similar
2. Previous experience in emergency management
