Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Wash, scrape, sand, and prepare interior and exterior surfaces. Repair woodwork, fill cracks, holes, and joins with suitable fillers, and seal substrates prior to coating.
- Site Setup & Safety: Erect scaffolding, ladders, and access platforms safely. Lay drop sheets and apply masking tape to protect surrounding areas, glass, and fixtures.
- Paint Preparation: Select, mix, and match paints and stains to required colors and specifications using correct pigments, thinners, and additives.
- Application: Apply primers, undercoats, and decorative topcoats using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment.
- Equipment & Site Maintenance: Clean and maintain painting tools, spray apparatus, and work areas. Ensure safe handling and disposal of paints and solvents.
- Site Management: Working across multiple interior and exterior sites, maintaining an inventory of supplies, and ensuring clean-up post-project.
- Quality Control: Identifying hazards or defects and undertaking inspections to ensure a superior finish.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of full-time work experience as a Painter.
- Qualification: Relevant Trade Qualification (Minimum AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating).
- Safety Card: General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
- Working With Children Check
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
- Licence: Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Technical Skills: Strong experience in surface preparation,cut and roll, and spray painting.
- Physical Capability: Ability to work comfortably at heights, handle equipment, and perform physical trade work.
- Safety Awareness: Good understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Availability: Immediate start is available for the successful candidate.
