Disability Support Worker (Female) – Active & Athletic Support Worker
Location: Port Melbourne / South Bank
Employment Type: Casual / Part-Time
Shifts: Monday, Wednesday & Friday – 11:00am to 5:00pm
Additional Hours: Potential weekend shifts available
About the Role
We are seeking an energetic, active, and compassionate Female Disability Support Worker to support a female participant living with a history of chronic pain.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and is passionate about making a positive difference in the life of another person. The ideal candidate will be fun, bubbly, patient, and encouraging, with the ability to motivate and support the participant to engage in recreational and community activities.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have a genuine interest in sports and physical activity, especially swimming, badminton, or similar activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in accordance with the participant's goals and preferences
- Support the participant to engage in community access and recreational activities
- Participate in physical activities such as swimming, badminton, walking, and other suitable exercise programs
- Assist with transport to appointments and community activities
- Prepare simple, healthy meals, with a particular focus on breakfast preparation
- Assist with light household tasks as required
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social participation
- Maintain accurate progress notes and documentation
- Promote the participant's health, wellbeing, dignity, and choice at all times
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be:
- Female support worker (requested by the participant under applicable NDIS requirements)
- Active, energetic, and physically fit
- Passionate about health, wellbeing, fitness, and community participation
- Fun, positive, patient, and able to build genuine rapport
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Comfortable supporting someone living with chronic pain
- Confident preparing simple meals and breakfasts
- Able to work independently and follow support plans
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker, Aged Care Worker, Support Coordinator, Allied Health Assistant, or similar role
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Working with Children Check (if required)
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Current Driver Licence
- Fully insured and reliable vehicle
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Right to work in Australia
Desirable
- Experience supporting participants with chronic pain, physical health conditions, or mental health challenges
- Experience or strong interest in swimming, badminton, fitness, or sports
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or related qualification
