- Focuses on customers and residents using person centered approach, demonstrates values of patience, empathy and listening and respects the customer’s diverse and unique needs.
- Attends to the personal care needs of customers, with a focus on those requiring additional support due to specific physical limitations or frailty.
- Identifies and reports changes in customers’ circumstances and capacity to more senior staff members, monitors and records clients’ vital signs and assists with medication management, including reminders and administration as prescribed.
- Provides manual handling assistance to customers with daily tasks, supports customers with daily hygiene routines, including showers or baths, shaving, and nail care. Assists customers with their aids, such as applying surgical/support stockings or operating a tens machine.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of clients’ care, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plans.
- Provides emotional support and companionship to customer’s, engages in conversations and activities to promote mental well-being and encourages their participation in social activities.
- Advocates for residents’ wellbeing and care through exceptional customer service and effective collaboration with residents, families, and the care team.
- Maintains a schedule of proactive check-ins to ensure residents are comfortable and their individual needs are being addressed. Ensures call bells and other requests by residents and families are addressed promptly and effectively.
- No qualifications required.
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Previous experience in providing personal care services to individuals with physical or mental disabilities, elderly or chronically ill patients is preferred.
- Prescribed: Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)

Home Community Support staff require current drivers licence valid in the state or territory in which employment is based and will maintain a drivers licence during employment.
