Sampson Racing is a professional thoroughbred training stable based at Kembla Grange Racecourse NSW. We're looking for an experienced Casual Trackwork Rider to join our team. Ride fresh 2YOs through to race-ready thoroughbreds, with regular freelance opportunities in the area. Join a winning team with recent results across country and provincial circuits.
THE ROLE:
- Riding fresh 2YOs through to race-ready thoroughbreds
- Following the Trainer's instructions for each horse's work program
- Providing feedback on each horse's condition, action, and progress
- Assisting with saddling and preparation as required
- Working safely and professionally alongside stable staff
- Complying with the Rules of Racing and all directions from Racing NSW Stewards and Trackwork Supervisors
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- A current Racing NSW Stablehand or Foreperson license with Trackwork Rider endorsement (or equivalent)
- A current Racing NSW Trackwork Rider Competency Assessment
- Proven experience riding thoroughbreds in a training environment
- Confident handling fresh 2YOS and race-ready horses
- Reliable, safety conscious, and able to start before sunrise
- A team-first attitude and genuine love for the racing industry
HOURS
- Early mornings, 3days/week, 2-4 rides/day
PAY
- Competitive and negotiable rates (inclusive of casual loading)
- 12% superannuation on top
- Paid fortnightly via electronic transfer
