Join Our Leading Surgical Team - Consultant, Breast & Endocrine Unit
The Consultant – Breast & Endocrine Surgery will provide specialised clinical expertise in the assessment, management, and surgical treatment of breast and endocrine conditions, whilst delivering the highest standard of patient care across consulting clinics, emergency services, and inpatient settings. Working within the Division of Surgical and Perioperative Medicine, the consultant will contribute to acute general surgical services whilst actively participating in teaching programmes, clinical audits, and innovative research initiatives that advance patient outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact through specialised surgical practice, mentorship, and continuous improvement programmes within South Australia's leading healthcare network.
About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Unit, Breast & Endocrinology, some of the duties of a Consultant may include:
Participating in the education of medical students, graduate and postgraduate staff.
Assisting where required with the investigation and prevention of patient incidents and complaints.
Being responsive to the expectations and needs of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
About you:
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
Completed BreastSurgANZ post-fellowship training or equivalent.
Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Breast & Endocrine Surgery.
Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Breast & Endocrine Surgery.
Ability to organise work priorities in planning, development and implementation of tasks in meeting deadlines.
A strong interest in surgical education, preferably with higher degree.
