Gledswood Homestead & Winery is an award-winning heritage venue renowned for exceptional weddings, corporate events, festivals, and cellar door experiences. We're looking for an experienced, passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and help deliver outstanding food across a diverse range of services.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys variety—from elegant weddings and corporate functions to restaurant service and signature events.
About the Role
Working closely with our Head Chef and Operations team, you'll play a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high food quality, efficient service and a positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily management of all kitchen operations.
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team during service.
- Prepare and present high-quality meals to company standards.
- Support menu development, seasonal specials and event menus.
- Maintain exceptional food presentation and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Standards and HACCP requirements.
- Manage stock rotation, ordering and inventory control.
- Minimise food waste while maintaining quality standards.
- Train, mentor and develop junior chefs and kitchen staff.
- Assist with rostering and kitchen labour management.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with the Events and Front of House teams to ensure seamless event execution.
About You
You are an enthusiastic hospitality professional who leads by example and enjoys creating memorable dining experiences.
You'll ideally have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef de Partie.
- Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in weddings, events or high-volume functions (highly regarded).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation.
- Passion for quality produce and creative presentation.
- Flexible availability including weekends, evenings and public holidays.
