Yass Valley Council is seeking an experienced and innovative Manager Environmental & Regulatory Services to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering environmental health, ranger services, biosecurity and compliance for the Planning and Environment Directorate.
This senior leadership position offers the opportunity to influence policy, drive service excellence, and contribute to the sustainable growth and wellbeing of our community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director Planning & Environment, you will:
- Provide advice to your team and the Director on investigations, regulatory services and compliance matters.
- Undertake continuous improvement projects aligning with best practice to ensure efficient delivery of services.
- Develop policy, programs and procedures for the delivery of regulatory functions including community education.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, using effective communication, negotiation and issue resolution to drive outcomes.
- Monitor and review performance of your team and ensure delivery of actions and budget within Council's Operational Plan.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Compliance and Environment team, fostering capability, adaptability and accountability to deliver strategic priorities within agreed timeframes, quality standards and budget parameters.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- Degree qualification in a relevant field and/or a minimum of five years' experience in the delivery of environmental health, biosecurity, ranger and/or compliance functions.
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience in environmental, regulatory, compliance, health, planning, or local government services.
- Strong knowledge of relevant NSW legislation, environmental management, regulatory frameworks, and compliance practices.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinking, sound judgement, and strong project management capabilities.
- Current class C Drivers Licence.
