Position Objectives
The Team Leader Family and Carer Peer Work will bring lived or living experience to provide leadership, supervision and mentoring to a dedicated team that is providing authentic, peer-led support and assistance at the Loddon Mallee Mental Health & Wellbeing Connect Centre. The Mental Health & Wellbeing Connect Centre is a key part of the Victorian Mental Health Reforms.
The Loddon Mallee Mental Health & Wellbeing Connect Centre operates across the Loddon Mallee region through a partnership with Mind and Mallee Family Care (MFC). MFC has established a Centre in Mildura and Mind has established a Centre in Bendigo. Several outpost sites also operate in existing service sites. Families, carers and supporters seeking information, advice, referral and peer support are able to access Centre based services, receive outreach support and support through telephone and other virtual platforms. Staff have a lived or living experience as a family member, carer or supporter of someone living with mental health challenges or substance use challenges and deliver services utilising a relational recovery approach, trauma informed practice and peer support. One-on-one support and group-based support is provided.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Significant experience as a family member and/or carer of a person living with mental health challenges or alcohol and other drug use.
- Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field as designated by Mallee Family Care.
- Specific qualifications relating to family work highly regarded.
- A person employed at this level will be expected to have previous experience in leadership and a demonstrated ability to provide guidance and direction to other staff members.
- A current drivers licence, a willingness to travel and preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
