Wattle Range Council is seeking a suitably qualified Tourism and Events Coordinator on a part-time basis to work collaboratively with the Manager of Community Development to manage Council's Southern Ocean Tourist Park and promote and run Tourism Events in the Wattle Range Council area.
This position will be permanent, part-time, 24 hours based on level 4 of the Wattle Range Council ASU Enterprise Bargaining Agreement dependent on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
The role includes (but is not limited to):
- Coordinate the day-to-day human resourcing of the Southern Ocean Tourist Park, including rostering, scheduling RDOs, managing leave requests and other employee needs. Coordinate daily tasks of the Tourism and Customer Support Officers, setting priorities and monitoring work to ensure that Tourist Park, events and tourism services are adequately supported in the high season and that Councils general administration is provided additional support in the low season.
- Supervise all administration and customer services functions of the Southern Ocean Tourist Park, ensuring the provision of a high standard of customer service.
- Coordinate and implement projects that improve visitor experiences and park occupancy rates in the Wattle Range Council area.
- Represent the Council in regional tourism and event forums, SA Parks conferences, sharing knowledge and working with key stakeholders including neighbouring Councils.
- Lead teams and committees in the planning, running and evaluation of Council events in the Wattle Range region and at the Southern Ocean Tourist Park.
- Actively support and facilitate community groups to develop and run events in the Council area.
- Working directly with the on-site Caretaker with availability on an ‘on-call’ roster.
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in the field of Tourism and Events, Business Administration or significant demonstrated skills, knowledge and judgement relating to Tourism and Events and or Business Administration in a Local Government environment.
- Experience operating Tourist and or Caravan Parks and Guest Booking Systems like RMS
- Experience in Visitor Servicing/customer relations/ Guest Services
- Experience in administration, clerical and customer service roles
- Ability to manage, promote and run events and muster community support
- Demonstrated time management skills to meet essential deadlines, balance competing demands and work under pressure
- Ability to manage a budget.
