The opportunity:
Join the BMDI Cord Blood Bank at MCRI as a Quality Manager in this parental leave cover opportunity. Reporting to the Cord Blood Bank Director, you will lead the Quality Management System and ensure compliance with TGA, GMP, and FACT-NetCord accreditation requirements. Working closely with laboratory, clinical, and regulatory stakeholders, you will oversee audits, quality assurance activities, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant cord blood banking service that supports life-saving transplant outcomes.
The position is offered as a 12-month parental leave cover contract.
What you’ll do
Lead and maintain the Cord Blood Bank Quality Management System to ensure compliance with TGA, GMP, and FACT-NetCord requirements
Act as the Quality Nominee, managing regulatory submissions, audits, inspections, and liaison with the TGA
Oversee quality assurance activities including document control, change management, CAPA processes, supplier management, and product recalls
Coordinate internal and external audit programs, driving continuous improvement and regulatory readiness across the service
Collaborate with laboratory teams and the national AusCord network to promote quality excellence, consistency, and best practice
What you’ll bring
A degree in Applied Science, Health, or a related discipline, with substantial experience in quality management or regulated environments
Strong knowledge of GMP, quality management systems, and Australian regulatory requirements, ideally within healthcare, blood, tissue, or cell therapy settings
Demonstrated experience leading audits, managing compliance activities, and maintaining quality systems
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
Strong organisational and analytical skills, with experience preparing reports, managing documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
