And now, we’re looking for an experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to assist in leading the engine room behind it all.
Job Description
As Assistant Chief Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the Hotel's maintenance operations, ensuring our iconic luxury property continues to deliver exceptional standards across all guest-facing and back-of-house areas.
Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will act as the department's second-in-command, helping lead a skilled engineering team while overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, safety, compliance and asset management of the hotel.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Supporting the Chief Engineer in leading the Engineering department and daily operations across the hotel.

Overseeing preventative maintenance programs and the performance of building services, plant and equipment.

Leading, coaching and developing the engineering team while promoting a strong safety culture.

Managing maintenance priorities, contractor works and compliance requirements to the highest standard.

Supporting capital projects, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

Working closely with operational departments to ensure a seamless luxury guest experience.

Acting as the department leader in the absence of the Chief Engineer and providing hands-on technical support when required.
Qualifications
Your keys to success in this role include:

Previous experience in a hotel engineering, facilities management or maintenance leadership role, ideally within a luxury hotel, premium hospitality environment or large-scale facility.

Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams in a fast-paced operational environment.

Strong technical knowledge across building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance systems.

Sound understanding of preventative maintenance programs, contractor management, WHS and statutory compliance requirements.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across departments.

A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
