Our Pack & Send Sydney City Service Centre is seeking a Professional Packer & Operations coordinator. This is a critical role for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and understands that the safety of a customer’s prized possession is in their hands.
Position Summary
The Professional Packer is responsible for the physical safety of every item that leaves the store. In this role, you transform "logistics" into "art" by applying specialized techniques to protect everything from antique glassware and electronics to heavy industrial equipment. You are the final line of defense against transit damage.
Key Responsibilities
· Expert Packing: Execute high-level packing tasks using a variety of materials including bubble wrap, foam-in-place systems, custom-built corrugated cartons, and timber crates.
· Structural Integrity: Evaluate the weight and fragility of items to determine the necessary cushioning and outer-shell requirements (e.g., double-walling or palletizing).
· Efficiency & Cleanliness: Maintain an organized packing station and manage warehouse waste (recycling and disposal) to ensure a safe, efficient workspace.
· Quality Control: Inspect items for pre-existing damage before packing and document the process for insurance and warranty purposes.
· Loading & Unloading: Safely assist in the loading of packed goods into courier vehicles and unloading incoming freight.
· Dispatch: Prepare documentation of international freight, processing of orders
Requirements & Skills
· Manual Dexterity: High level of hand-eye coordination and precision when measuring, cutting, and securing materials.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and standing for the duration of a shift.
· Spatial Awareness: Ability to visualize and construct custom packaging solutions for irregularly shaped objects.
· Teamwork: Strong ability to follow technical instructions from the operations coordinator and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Attention to Detail: Meticulous care in ensuring no movement occurs within a package once sealed.
· Computer Literacy: Ability to confidently use Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and navigate multiple software platforms.
· Order processing: Processing the dispatch of orders using different freight providers
· Driving: Perform local pickups and deliveries using our company vehicle (when required)
· Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills
