About the Opportunity
As a Specialist Electrical Engineer, you’ll provide expertise to the LOTE project design team on the overall design, analysis, and sustainment of electrical systems critical to submarine performance. A particular focus will be on EMC aspects for equipment being integrated onto the submarine. You’ll apply your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges across electrical systems and equipment. Reporting to the LOTE Technical Governance Lead, you’ll collaborate across disciplines and guide teams to deliver safe, practical, and high-quality solutions, providing advice to the Technical Director on escalated issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and oversight on integration of equipment with respect to EMI/EMC
- Provide oversight of the electrical integration of LOTE Project equipment and associated cabling into the general arrangement
- Support Certification Basis updates
- Review and (once Engineering delegations received) approve engineering documentation, including drawings, reports and calculations; ensuring quality of product is maintained and engineering advice is sound.
- Provide direction on modelling and analysis approaches, particularly with respect to EMC.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated electrical solutions.
- Mentor engineers and support capability development.
About you
- Degree qualified in Electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years in electrical engineering, ideally in defence, marine, or aerospace.
- Recognised experience in electrical systems and their integration.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of submarine electrical systems and interdependencies.
- Skilled in engineering tools and systems thinking.
- Proven leadership in complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Strong communicator across technical levels.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to engineering excellence.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
