Fast-Food Assistant
Job Description
As an experienced fast-food assistant, you will be responsible for and be able to perform all of the duties and requirements of a fast-food commercial kitchen. These include the preparation and cooking of hot and cold food, customer service, order taking, cash register skills and the processing of sales either by cash and/or electronic payment. You will also be able to maintain cleanliness and food hygiene protocols, in a fast-paced and busy environment.
Task Requirements
Key Tasks
· Preparation & Cooking of hot food, hamburgers and wraps
· Making of coffees, milkshakes, frappes and smoothies
· Serving customers and using the till
· Money handling
· Use commercial coffee machine, deli slicer, dough mixer, fryers and grill
· Knife handling
· General cleaning all areas of the shop, from washing and wiping up storage containers and cooking utensils, cleaning of appliances, wiping down glass fronts of fridges and deli displays and the cleaning of fryers and grill.
· Filtering of hot oils with commercial oil filtration machine
· Stocking of fridges and freezers
· Packing away of deliveries and orders
· End of day close cleaning includes the packing up of signs, chairs and the sweeping and mopping of floors.
· Refill drink fridges chip bin and deli display
· Changing and or filtering oils
· Taking out rubbish
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
· Welcoming and managing customers with a positive, happy and friendly demeanour, whilst taking and processing orders accurately, answering menu questions and handling complaints in a courteous manner to ensure a positive experience for everyone in our shop.
Food Preparation
· Prepare menu items such as sandwiches, toasties, burgers, hot food, salads and beverages according to our recipes and portion sizes, whilst also ensuring quality and consistency.
Cash Handling
· Operate cash register, EFT machines, process payments and/or give correct change. Making sure that all EFT payments are confirmed and approved before proceeding on further to any other task.
Sanitation and Cleanliness
· Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, dining area and restrooms. Must hold the NSW Government Food Handler Basic certification and follow all food safety and hygiene protocols and know how to properly store and handle food in a commercial setting.
Equipment Operation
· Use of grills, fryers, ovens and beverage machines safely and efficiently, including cleaning.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· NSW Food Authority - Food Handlers Basic Certificate
· Good communication skills and ability to interact with diverse backgrounds with both customers and fellow co-workers
· Ability work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Basic maths skills in order to handle cash accurately
· Be able to work productively in a team environment for smooth running of operations
· Have physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
· Ability to work throughout weekdays, evenings and/or weekends
Pay: $27.81 – $34.76 per hour
