The Act establishes the Council as a statutory body responsible for overseeing a modern licensing framework for over 1,300 pharmacy businesses, ensuring the professional, safe, and competent delivery of pharmacy services.
The Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act), the Director, Strategic Engagement and Council Operations plays a pivotal role in the Council's Leadership Team, acting as a strategic advisor to the Council and CEO.
This role leads strategic engagement with government and non-government stakeholders, develops partnerships with state, territory, and Commonwealth agencies, and oversees the Council's operations and compliance obligations. It also provides high-level support to the Council's Chair and CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with Queensland Government and other agencies to support the Council's functions.
Develop and implement the Council's communications and stakeholder engagement strategy using best practice approaches.
Provide high-level support to the Chair and CEO, including managing the Council's meeting agenda, offering policy, integrity, and governance advice, and overseeing the secretariat function.
Develop and maintain robust conflict of interest procedures and liaise with the Office of the Integrity Commissioner as needed.
Interpret and advise on statutory and administrative compliance requirements, and develop supporting policies and procedures.
Oversee the development of the Council's annual report, strategic and operational plans, and other key policies.
Manage the Council's risk management framework, ensuring robust procedures to identify and mitigate risks in line with legislative obligations.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, senior executives, and governing boards.
A strong track record of providing high-level strategic advice on complex policy, governance, and stakeholder matters.
Adaptability and a solutions-focused approach to thrive in dynamic environments and foster collaborative partnerships.
While not essential, a relevant qualification (e.g., communications, strategic planning) is highly regarded.
